SquitterPro is a desktop aircraft-tracking application made by Anthony Rose ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and what leaves your computer. The short version: SquitterPro is a local-first app. It stores your data on your own machine, does not send it to us, and runs no analytics or tracking.
A note on scope: the sections below describe the SquitterPro desktop app, which is local-first and runs no analytics. This website (squitterpro on GitHub Pages) does use Google Analytics to understand visitor traffic. It loads in Google's Consent Mode with analytics storage denied by default, and only sets analytics cookies after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner; you can decline. IP addresses are anonymized. Purchases are handled on our provider's own checkout (Lemon Squeezy) and tips on Ko-fi, each under their own privacy policies.
We do not collect, store, or receive your personal data through normal use of the app. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no usage telemetry. Information reaches us only if you choose to send a problem report, or when you purchase a license (handled by our payment provider).
The app stores the following on your computer only, under your Windows user profile
(%LOCALAPPDATA%\SquitterPro), not synced to us: your aircraft logbook, coverage
history, range records and statistics; your settings (including receiver address, chosen home
location, and, if you enable them, your airframes.io API key and your chosen AI provider's API
key); cached photos and metadata; and your license key if activated. You can delete all of it by removing that folder.
To show maps, photos, weather, and optional community/ACARS data, the app makes requests directly from your computer to third parties. We do not receive that data; each provider sees your device's IP address, as any website does. What is sent:
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing these requests.
When you activate a Pro license, your key is validated with our store provider (Lemon Squeezy), which enforces a per-key device limit to prevent sharing. To do this the app sends your license key and a device identifier (your computer's name) to Lemon Squeezy. After a successful activation the result is cached on your computer and trusted offline between periodic re-checks, so the app keeps working without a connection. Some complimentary keys are verified entirely offline. Your license key is stored only on your device.
The "Report a problem" feature opens your own email program with a recent copy of the local log file. Nothing is sent unless you review it and click send. If you send it, we use it only to diagnose the issue.
License purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record, under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We may receive your email address and order reference to deliver and support your license. Optional tips are handled separately by Ko-fi under its own privacy policy.
The app uses a "home" location that you set yourself or that is read from your own receiver. We do not collect precise device location. If you enable Public Feed, your chosen coordinates are sent to the community aggregators above to find nearby aircraft.
The app is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Because we hold essentially no personal data about you, most access/deletion requests are satisfied by managing the local data folder on your device. If you have sent us a problem report or purchased a license and want the associated email/order information deleted, contact us and we will honor applicable rights under laws such as the GDPR and CCPA.
Local data is protected by your operating-system account. No system is perfectly secure; keep your device and account secured. Any API keys you enter (airframes.io, an AI provider) are stored in the local settings file.
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change and the current version is available in the app (About) and here.
